2011 Christmas Letter

2011. A year to remember!
January: We welcomed Isabelle Rose Doll to our family, weighing in at 7 lb. 2oz. on January 20th. She is a happy girl who loves to explore and play with her big sister. She brings us so much joy – hard to believe she will soon be a year old!
February: Albert accompanied Grace to her second annual Sweetheart Dance in Detroit Lakes. It is an event for dads and daughters age 2-12 with a grand march, snacks, crafts and dancing. What more could a little girl want? Grace was thrilled when she was able to meet some local “princesses” from area pageants. Albert celebrated his 3rd anniversary at Norseman Motors. He enjoys being a sales consultant and networking with hundreds of people!
April: I returned to work after 10 weeks of maternity leave L I enjoyed my time off with Izzy. On April 16th, I was maid of honor in my friend Shalom’s wedding. It was an honor to be a part of her big day!
May: Izzy was dedicated into God’s family on May 8th at Lakes Area Vineyard Church. We attended Albert’s youngest sister’s graduation party. Wow, did that make us feel old, considering Audrey was just 6 years old when we started dating! In May, we made a prayerful and difficult decision to put the house up for sale. After only 10 days on the market, we had an offer pending our buyer’s sale of their home. We prayed and waited!
June: Grace was a flower girl in Albert’s sister’s wedding. She was so excited to wear her pretty purple dress and have a special role in Amelia and Jeff’s wedding.
July: Grace celebrated her 4th birthday while we camped with friends and family at Akeley, MN. As quoted from “Tangled”, Grace referred to it as “Best Day Ever!” Grace also enjoyed Vacation Bible School with her friend Charlie for a week in July. Albert and I were able to get to a Twin’s game with the Frazee Fire Dept. He kept busy in July with Frazee Turkey Day events and continues to be a volunteer fire fighter for Frazee. On July 30th, we received the news we had been praying for – buyer of our house sold theirs!
August: Grace and I managed to squeeze in a little fun in the midst of moving mania and saw the traveling circus in Frazee under the big top. No elephants, but we were impressed with the man who was shot out of a canon! We closed on the house on August 15th and moved in with my parents for a couple weeks until we could get into our rental. Talk about disrupting their lives! It was fun for us and the girls and hopefully we didn’t wear out our welcome! We began the house hunt in the Frazee area so Albert could stay on the fire department. Again, we were blessed by finding a great house in Frazee in a new development and prepared ourselves for another move! My recheck at Mayo for my heart revealed great news – no changes in the valves and no new leaks!
September: We enjoyed our brief rented stay at the Edgewater Beach Club in DL. Grace and Albert were able to use the pool a few times. Grace started Pre-School at Community Alliance Church and loves it! She is learning so much and making new friends. She also started dance classes and is learning ballet and tap. My 3rd year at
OTC Public Health has gone by quickly, plus I filled a temporary position with an eldercare program in DL to help cover a maternity leave. It’s been eye opening and humbling to see how the needs of people continue to grow in our community. My car has become my portable office with home visits all over the county.
October: The final move into the new house! It has a lot of similarities to our previous home, so the girls have adapted well. The basement is finished and Albert now has a man cave that he has adorned with Bears décor. We love the house and I know I have said this before ,but I am never moving again! We enjoyed getting together with Albert’s immediate family for a fall celebration. All 7 siblings were able to be home. My sister and her 3 children traveled from ND for a visit, also. We love to see them - they are growing up so fast!
November: Grace had a minor surgery on her thumb to fix a “trigger finger”. All went well and now she can straighten her thumb and give the”thumbs up”sign again! We hosted thanksgiving for my parents and grandma and stuffed ourselves with goodies. We also were able to celebrate the holiday with the extended Doll family. Albert’s brother-in-law, uncle and cousin are all battling cancer, so there have been lots of prayers said for them. They were all able to attend the gathering, which meant a lot to see them and let them know they are loved and supported.
December: This month has been spent attending school and dance performances for Grace along with the annual visit to have breakfast with Santa. Grace is working hard at staying on Santa’s nice list! Albert found the Christmas decorations from storage, so we have been able to make the house festive. We are mostly settled and ready to add memories! What a busy, but blessed year!
We wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
God’s blessings to you,
Albert, Jennifer, Grace and Isabelle Doll

Long time - since I wrote!

Sorry it's been a while since I wrote in my blog, It has been a very busy couple weeks. Cars and Trucks are moving fast at work and the auto market in Detroit Lakes at Norseman Motors is definitely not hurting. if you know anyone looking for a pre-owned vehicle get them ahold of me soon, we are seeing the best pricing in 37 years for pre-owned vehicles- even those cheapo tin cans that conserve gas are a good buy right now.

On the home front, Grace is a communicating up a storm, she had her first sled ride outside last weekend when it was above zero. She can reach things on the counter and lets us know what she wants. OK, Help, More, Thanks you, Please, Mommy, Daddy are her favorite words. She points out all her aunts and uncles in pictures and knows each piece of furniture by name. She is a little tape recorder!! We have to be careful what we say because she attempts repeating everything- tonight the floor was DIRTY (sounded like Durrrtty durrty)

Jen has been busy at work too. she was on cal this weekend and I worked Sat so Grace spent Sat at Grandma wicks and had a blast!!

I am looking forward to going out with Jen's friends this coming Sat to Zorbaz in D.L. I totally want a Jose Zorbaz pizza- Man, I can taste it now!!

I made Shepards pie (hot dish)for supper and I ate way too much!

Grace just fell asleep, she usually talks for 20 minutes after we lay her down.

The weather is way to cold!

Yesterday after got home from work I has a Frazee fire department call for a roll over less than half Mile from our house so I had Jen run upstairs and grab some blankets and I headed for the rollover. One other firefighter and I were the first ones there, The driver was pinned in the vehicle, so I helped with keeping his neck in one position and trying to keep him warm (30 below windchill!!) The rest of the fire dept and EMS showed up and we got him out. I was FROZEN. But it looked like he and his girlfriend will make it. That is as close as I ever want an accident to my house.

Just a reminder to all- don't drink then drive, and please slow down the roads are slippery!!
